Latest Issue of Circa out now

Living Histories partners are pleased to be associated with Circa: the journal of Professional Historians Australia.

The latest issue (No. 9 2026) has recently been released and begins with a review of PHA’s most recent Hot Histories Conference held in Darwin. The review is followed by nine peer-reviewed articles that explore a diverse range of topics from the nineteenth century larrikin to the modern use of AI by historians.

Included in the Practice Reviews section is an article by the Living Histories’ team – Sonia Jennings, Jill Barnard and Miranda Francis. In this article we draw on our experience working with a community group to complete a commissioned history. Oral history interviews for the project brought up many memories of a devasting fire in 1969 and we look at the trauma still present within the community and the way the fire shaped the community’s identity. ‘Working with the community to claim the flames in Truganina’ pp 106-109.
